Compliance on a website

If you publish a website under au.dk or as xx.au.dk in TYPO3, you are ensured that your website complies with all compliance rules. The site automatically receives AU’s general footer with links to the privacy policy, accessibility statement, and cookies. The cookie banner is also automatically implemented.

However, if you choose a solution that:

  • is not an xx.au.dk domain,
  • is not created in TYPO3,
  • or you have opted out of the general AU footer, for example, with a neutral design,

then you need to be aware that it is your responsibility to ensure that your website's footer includes a privacy policy, a link to the cookie report, and an accessibility statement.

Privacy policy/Data protection policy

All websites should have a link in the footer to a privacy policy that informs about data processing and the rights of visitors. This is a direct consequence of GDPR. If your site has the general AU footer (as domains with *.au.dk have), then you are covered. If you have opted out of the footer, or if your site is not in TYPO3, then the following applies:

If the legal owner of the site is not Aarhus University, you must create your own privacy policy and link to it in the footer of your site. You can get inspiration for how to complete this from AU's privacy policy.

If the legal owner is Aarhus University, you may link to AU’s privacy policy: https://www.au.dk/om/profil/privatlivspolitik/ UK: https://international.au.dk/about/profile/privacy-policy/. You just need to create a footer with this link yourself.

Accessibility statement

Since September 23, 2019, it is mandatory to have an accessibility statement on all websites. If your site has the general AU footer, then you are covered. If you have opted out of the footer or if your site is not in TYPO3, then the following applies:

If your site is in TYPO3 (but you have opted out of the footer), you may link to the accessibility statement on au.dk in the footer of your site. You just need to create a footer with this link yourself.

If your site is not created in TYPO3, you need to create the accessibility statement yourself. See, how to create an accessibility statement

Cookies

All websites must have a solution where users can give active consent to cookies and different types of cookies in the form of a cookie banner. Additionally, all sites must have a cookie report, where all cookies on the site are described and categorized.

If your site is in TYPO3 and is a *.au.dk domain, you do not need to do anything yourself. The cookie solution will automatically be applied to your site upon publication, i.e., the banner will be presented, and the site will be included in the monthly cookie scan that forms the basis for the report on au.dk/cookiepolitik.

If your site is in TYPO3 but is a different domain, such as xx.dk, you need to remember to order a new cookie setup and report for your site during its creation your local TYPO3-support can assist with setting this up.

If your site is NOT in TYPO3, you need to ensure that your site has a compliant cookie banner and cookie report. Unfortunately, you cannot use AU’s Cookiescript solution, which is used on TYPO3 sites.

You can read more about the requirements for your website’s cookie solution if you need to create it yourself:
